Benefits & Applications

Major uses of Methanol include the production of acetic acid, formaldehyde (used in wood boards and construction), MTBE (as a fuel component), bio-diesel (formation of methyl esters), gasoline, direct blending (with gasoline), dimethyl terephthalate, methyl methacrylate, methylamines and chloro-methane. The industry has seen methanol demand continue to increase due to a growing Chinese market and new applications including: dimethyl ether, methanol-to-olefins and direct blending with gasoline.
