Corpus Christi Plant

The LyondellBasell Corpus Christi Plant produces Ethylene and Propylene. Ethylene Propylene are used to create a variety of products, which include construction and roofing materials, food packaging, large household appliances, automotive exteriors, personal care products, and medical supplies.

Beginning in 2023, the plant began production utilizing renewable feedstock, such as used cooking oils, in place of hydrocarbon-based feedstock. The renewable ethylene and propylene produced will be processed into polymers at other LyondellBasell plants, which supports our sustainability goal of producing at least 2 million tons of recycled and renewable-based Circulen polymers, annually by 2030.

The Corpus Christi Plant is an integral part of the local economy. The plant provides good paying and stable jobs in which workers live and shop in the local area for goods and services. Property taxes paid by LyondellBasell help support the local schools and government services.  The plant also supports the community through donations to organizations such as Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries, Metro Ministries, Tuloso Midway and Calallen Education Foundations, Driscoll Children's Hospital, and the United Way.

The safety of the community, our operations and our employees is a primary focus. The Corpus Christi Plant aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product safety incidents, zero environmental incidents and zero plastic pellet loss to the environment. The LyondellBasell GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.
