Visit Offered In-Depth Look at Operations

EDISON, New Jersey – August 19, 2016 – Employees from the LyondellBasell Edison site hosted a visit by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D NJ-06), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The congressman was briefed on the plant’s operations and technology by LyondellBasell Edison Site Manager Dave Schrutka. The visit also included a town hall meeting with plant workers and other local authorities.

“I am truly impressed by the innovation I saw at the LyondellBasell Edison Plant today,” said Congressman Pallone. “Manufacturing is so important for our country and it is good to see cutting edge jobs being created right here in Edison.”

“Today was a great opportunity to showcase our incredible team as well as the positive economic benefits that the Edison facility provides to the local community,” said Schrutka. “Most importantly, we were proud to highlight our commitment to safety and reinvesting in existing assets to ensure the sustainability of our business.”

Schrutka also thanked the congressman for his leadership in a bipartisan effort to pass legislation reforming U.S. chemical regulatory laws. The new legislation was supported by a broad coalition of industry and environmental groups and represents the first update to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) since it became law 40 years ago.

Congressman Pallone was very enthused about his visit to the Edison facility. He saw how the plant’s products apply to everyday lives and discussed matters affecting the sixth congressional district he represents with employees.

“I appreciate the contributions my constituents make to the facility and the role LyondellBasell plays in New Jersey’s economy,” Pallone added.

The Edison Plant manufactures the company’s Avant ZN catalysts used in the production of polypropylene plastic resins. The location has been a manufacturing site since 1929, but has changed products and ownership many times. It is now a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility serving as the supplier of polyethylene and polypropylene catalysts to the company’s customers worldwide. These products are used in the manufacture of automotive parts, plastic toys, containers and home furnishings.
