Fairport Harbor Plant

Lyondell (previously called USI Chemicals Co) began operations in Fairport Harbor in 1964.

The LyondellBasell Fairport Harbor Plant produces wire-insulating resins, cable-insulating resins and plexar tie-layer resins that are used to create a variety of products, which includes food packaging and wire/cable coatings for appliances and automotive components.  The Fairport Harbor site also has the capabilities that allow for the incorporation of recycled materials to create polymer resins. On average, employees produce and manage 600,000,000,000 plastic pellets per year.

The Fairport Harbor Plant is an integral part of the local economy. The plant provides good paying and stable jobs in which workers live and shop in the local area for goods and services. Property taxes paid by LyondellBasell help support the local schools and government services. The plant also supports the community through donations to organizations such as the Village of Fairport Harbor Police and Fire Departments along with donations to the local food banks.

The safety of the community, operations and our employees is a primary focus. The Fairport Harbor Plant aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product safety incidents, zero environmental incidents and zero plastic pellet loss to the environment. The LyondellBasell GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.
