Lake Charles Polymers Site

The LyondellBasell Lake Charles Polymers Plant produces Polypropylene and Catalloy resins is used to create a variety of products, which includes construction and roofing materials, small household appliances, food packaging, automotive parts, caps, and closures.

The Lake Charles Polymers Plant is an integral part of the local economy. The plant provides good paying and stable jobs in which workers live and shop in the local area for goods and services. Property taxes paid by LyondellBasell help support the local schools and government services. The Lake Charles facility supports the community through donations to organizations such as Carlyss Fire Department, Sulphur Police Department, Calcasieu Parish School Board's Partner in Education program, City of Lake Charles Partner in Parks Program, McNeese State University, Sowela Technical Community College, Community Foundation of SWLA, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana, Family and Youth Counseling Agency, and more.

The safety of the community, operations and our employees is a primary focus. The Lake Charles Polymers Plant aims for zero injuries, zero process safety incidents, zero product safety incidents, zero environmental incidents and zero plastic pellet loss to the environment. The LyondellBasell GoalZERO standards apply to all employees, contractors and suppliers performing work at the sites.

Basements are common in many places throughout the United States, but they are rare to find in south Louisiana due to low sea levels. However, the Lake Charles Polymers Plant in Lake Charles has one of the only basements in Southwest Louisiana. The site was built in the 1960s based on a design from another site located in the northern U.S. Today, the Plant primarily uses its basement for storage.
