LAKE CHARLES, La. – Sept. 19, 2015 – LyondellBasell Lake Charles employees and their families renovated several areas of the Boys Villages facility as part of the Company’s Global Care Day. Now in its 16th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.
“As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on the generosity and volunteerism of our community,” said Max Mathieu, Boys Village executive director. “LyondellBasell’s Global Care Day is truly a blessing.”
LyondellBasell volunteers repaired a large section of the gym that sustained water damage from a leak. Aging kitchen cabinetry was repaired and refinished. Crews remodeled the residents’ bathrooms and replaced sagging ceiling tiles. Outside, other helpers installed landscaping to create a welcoming entrance.
“This was about more than just updating the look,” said LyondellBasell Engineer Kathryn Aymond. “The changes we made created a safer environment for the many children who are helped every year by Boys Villages.”
Founded in 1947, Boys Village supports more than 100 needy children every year in the Lake Charles area.
“We are extremely grateful to the employees and their families who donated their time and talent toward the overall improvement of the campus for our kids,” said Mathieu.
