HOUSTON – LyondellBasell (LYB) is proud to announce two of its employees, Helen Scott and Amber Hans, have been recognized by the Manufacturing Institute (MI) as recipients of the 2025 Women MAKE Awards. This honor is part of the MI’s Women MAKE America initiative, which focuses on closing the gender gap in manufacturing by empowering and inspiring women in the industry.
The Women MAKE Awards recognizes women in two categories: Honorees, who are currently employed in manufacturing and Emerging Leaders, who are rising stars in the industry. This year marks the first time LYB has had two recipients of these esteemed awards.
Helen Scott, operations manager at the LYB Fos Site in France, has been named in the Honoree category. Throughout her career, Helen has leveraged technologies to optimize operations and enhance safety across various manufacturing facilities, earning three Operational Excellence Awards within LYB. Passionate about shaping the future of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, Helen has dedicated time and effort to establish a network of women in engineering and manufacturing at the Fos site.
Amber Hans, process engineer at the Houston Refinery, has been recognized as an Emerging Leader. Since joining LYB in 2021, Amber has made significant contributions, including facilitating projects supporting the greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals of the company. Her hands-on mentoring approach has positioned her team for success. Amber is active locally in community initiatives as well as organizes events as part of LYB employee networks.
“We are incredibly proud of Helen and Amber for their achievements and significant contributions to LYB and the manufacturing industry,” said Kim Foley, LYB executive vice president, Global Olefins & Polyolefins and Refining. “They demonstrate commitment to innovation, mentorship and community engagement and are true role models who strive for excellence to inspire the next generation of women in manufacturing.”
The Women MAKE Awards gala will take place April 24, 2025, in Washington, D.C., where Helen and Amber will be honored alongside other distinguished women in manufacturing.
