LyondellBasell Refinery, Most Gulf Coast Plants, Return to Operation

September 26, 2008

LyondellBasell announced today that its Houston refinery has restarted operations this week after being shut down in preparation for Hurricane Ike. The refinery is not yet operating at pre-hurricane rates but will progress toward increasing operating rates over the next week.

Startup operations have been completed or remain in progress at almost all of LyondellBasell’s chemicals and polymers facilities on the Gulf Coast. However, the limited availability of feedstock and industrial gasses continues to restrict our ability to return these plants to their pre-shutdown operating rates.

Our number one operational priority remains the safety of our people at our facilities and restarting our operations without impact to the environment.
