Channelview Complex shows support to local area seniors and youth programs

LyondellBasell (LYB) Channelview Complex (CVO) recently offered community support through two initiatives for local residents, with a focus on seniors and children.

In response to the Texas summer after Hurricane Beryl, employees from the Channelview Complex delivered 100 box fans to Harris County Constable Precinct 3 for the "Are You Okay?" (RUOK?) program. This initiative helps homebound seniors suffering from extreme temperatures due to power outages and a lack of transportation to cooling centers. The RUOK? Program is essential in the area for monitoring seniors' well-being by having officers conduct welfare checks.

Adding to their community engagement, LYB CVO also donated $10,000 to the Precinct 3 Crosby Community Center Kids Camp (P3 KIDS). Commissioner Tom Ramsey attended a check presentation to celebrate the summer camp's completion. The funds donated enabled P3 KIDS to enhance the programs offered, providing children with food, crafts and enriched hands-on activities.

Tony Wood, CVO site manager, highlighted the broader significance of these contributions: "Everyone on site is committed to helping our community. We address immediate needs like extreme heat relief post-storm for our seniors and educate our youth with fun activities to beat the heat all summer long. It all underscores our dedication to emergency relief and sustained partnerships for the well-being of our community."

These initiatives support the company’s focus on being a responsible, good neighbor in the communities where it operates. This aligns with the LYB global corporate citizenship program, Advancing Good, which invests in charitable organizations and participates in volunteer efforts. The program focuses on three key areas: Advancing Our Communities, Advancing Our Planet, and Preparing Tomorrow's Workforce.
