The Channelview Complex supported the Crosby Independent School District (CISD) with two back-to-school events: the New Teacher Orientation and the Back-to-School Drive.
New Teacher Orientation:
Tina Colonna, Cost Specialist, led the New Teacher Orientation which was an initiative to welcome new educators to the district. LyondellBasell (LYB) provided resources to connect new teachers to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities sponsored by LYB in the new academic year. Tina Colonna said, "Supporting our educators, who shape our future leaders, is not just a privilege but a responsibility. We were happy to provide many different resources they can utilize in their professional development and the classroom."
Back-to-School Drive:
Noel Escalante-Guardado, Maintenance Administrative Assistant, led the Back-to-School Drive to provide students with school supplies. Approximately 1,600 items were donated by Channelview Complex employees, to help students impacted by Hurricane Beryl prepare for the school year. The efforts of LYB employee volunteers resulted in 75 students receiving backpacks filled with school essentials, and CISD teachers received additional support materials at the Back-to-School Bash. Reflecting on the event, Noel noted, "The joy of helping the children pick out their school supplies and seeing their smiles was heartwarming. It's a reminder of the positive impact we can have on our community."
These back-to-school events highlight the Channelview Complex’s dedication to supporting education in the area and its ongoing efforts to enhance its relationship with the Crosby community, which aligns with broader goals to empower and improve the lives of those in the communities where its employees live and work.
