American Fuel & Petrochemicals Manufacturers (AFPM) is a trade association representing various fuel makers and petrochemical companies in the U.S. Annually, the AFPM Safety Awards recognize member companies as key industry leaders in safety standards, awarding site employees and contractors that have attained above average safety performance in the domestic refining and petrochemical industries.
The LyondellBasell Chocolate Bayou Polymers Plant was among one of the manufacturing sites recognized as a recipient of the 2021 AFPM Safety Achievement Award. Site Manager Ryan Norris presented the award to Chocolate Bayou employees during the monthly safety observation walk in July.
Throughout the monthly safety observation walks, employees from all business units at the Chocolate Bayou site are encouraged to participate in identifying areas that may require additional safety measures. At the end of the walk, findings and observations are then discussed as a group and recorded to continually improve safety performance.
